The beginnings of Samidoh
The energetic entertainer was born in 1990 in Subukia, Nakuru County.
He had a difficult childhood after losing his father, aged three, and his mother a few years later when he enrolled in Form One.

“I was born into a family of six. We are six boys and I am the third born. My mother was called Miriam Wairimu, but she left us. My father was called Michael Ndirangu. He worked at Molo during the clashes in the 1990s and was killed,” Pulse Live quoted him as saying.
After losing his father, they were expelled from the ancestral land of Nyandarua County.
As an orphan, Samidoh had to overcome several difficulties to pay his school fees, but completed high school despite the obstacles.
In high school, he met his wife Edith Muchoki, with whom they are together to this day.
Samidoh’s musical career
He started his music career after high school after moving to the capital, Nairobi.
In the city, he joined the music group of Kamande wa Kio as a backup artist. His older brother was a drummer in legendary musician Kikuyu’s band.
He then decided to join Kenya Polytechnic to pursue a degree course in Business and Information Technology.

This caused him to lose his job in Kamande’s group due to his unavailability. He chose to return to the village and worked briefly on a horticultural farm before obtaining a position as an administrative policeman.

Youtube channel
He started releasing his songs while juggling his work. His first song, “Ndiri na Mutwe Mwega” posted on his YouTube channel with 360,000 subscribers, garnered over 3.9 million views.
According to YouTubers, the benga singer has uploaded 35 music videos which have garnered 46.2 million views since 2011.
His estimated monthly earnings on the platform range between KShs 60,000 to KShs 120,000.
However, the musician earns more by holding live shows across the country. During the 2022 campaign season, he performed at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s rallies in central Kenya.
Samido has also performed in the United States and Dubai, striking millions.

In 2021, the singer launched a mugithi club in Nakuru dubbed Unique Tavern.
The restaurant is adjacent to the Platinum 7D club and the Kunste Hotel.
Apart from Unique Tavern, it also owns the Sparkling Beachview Carwash Bar & Restaurant and another club at Githurai 44.
Apartment rental
In August 2021, he flaunted a rental apartment he was building in Nairobi.
He captioned his post:
“Grace means that all your mistakes now serve a purpose instead of serving shame.”
It also has mansions in the village and in the town.
Toyota Harrier SUV
To enable him to get around easily, Samidoh bought a third-generation Toyota Harrier sports utility vehicle (SUV) that costs between KShs 2 and 5 million, depending on the year of manufacture.
The car is equipped with leather seats, a sunroof, several airbags, an anti-lock braking system and a skid control system.

Kenyan Celebrity Couples Run Successful Businesses
In other news, several Kenyan celebrity couples are running successful businesses alongside their normal jobs.
Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla are the masterminds behind Jiffy Pictures, a Swahili telenovela production house.
